Ledgewood Kennel is owned and operated by husband & wife team Chip and Kirby Barrett.

Kirby has been involved with animals for most of her life. Apart from her twenty years of kennel experience she also breeds black Labradors and has been associated with local pet rescue. She keeps Cotswold sheep and has won top awards at various national show events. She has always had a keen interest in horses, has participated in hundreds of show jumping and carting events over the years, and continues to keep and board horses.

Chip is largely responsible for the design and build of the Ledgewood Kennel facility. It incorporates an in-floor radiant heating system, central air and a large capacity hot and cold water system, purpose built for animal care. He is a member of a local volunteer fire department and operates his contracting business - Smithfield Contracting.
